Routines
A routine is a prompt you write once and Memento runs on a schedule — exactly as if you had typed it into the assistant yourself. A morning brief before you sit down, a Friday sweep of your action items: the assistant works while you don't.

Creating a routine
Go to Settings → Routines, pick a space, and write the prompt the way you would say it in chat. Then choose:
- Mode — Read-only answers like an Ask turn and never touches your pages. Edit pages lets the agent act on the library — update task lists, append a log entry — with the same safety net as any edit: additive changes land directly, while anything that rewrites a confirmed fact, merges pages, touches a protected page, or moves content between spaces waits for your review in your Inbox. The full list is on The assistant.
- Schedule — daily, weekdays, or weekly on a chosen day, at a time of day in your timezone. Daylight-saving shifts are handled for you: 07:30 stays 07:30.
Run now (the play button) fires a routine immediately — handy to check the prompt does what you meant before trusting it to a 7am slot.
Where results go
Every routine keeps its own conversation in the assistant, marked with a ⏰. Each run adds your prompt and the assistant's answer as ordinary chat turns, so you can scroll back through past mornings — and because it is a real conversation, the agent remembers previous runs: a daily brief knows what it already told you yesterday. You also get a notification when a run finishes (or fails), and View results on the routine jumps straight to its conversation.
Good first routines
- “Summarise what changed in my library yesterday and list anything that needs my attention.” — daily, read-only.
- “Go through my action items, tick off anything my notes say is finished, and flag stale ones.” — weekly, edit mode.
- “List open questions across my project pages that nobody has answered yet.” — weekdays, read-only.
Pausing a routine (the checkbox) keeps it and its conversation but stops the schedule; deleting it removes only the schedule — the conversation stays in the assistant. Edit-mode runs show up in the Activity ledger like any other agent run; see The assistant for how review and undo work.
